In an exclusive interview with Jamuna News, Nahid Islam, a key advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government, spoke about the country’s upcoming elections and ongoing reforms.
He also shared insights into the challenges and hopes surrounding the election process.
Nahid Islam, who is also a coordinator of the student and public movement, emphasized that if the new government simply follows the same system as the previous one, the sacrifices made by the people would be meaningless.
"We are working on creating new frameworks to bring real change, so the next government can carry forward this progress," he said.
When asked about the timeline for the elections, the Information Advisor expressed that the people of Bangladesh are eager to vote.
He pointed out that many people, including himself, have been deprived of their voting rights. "A whole generation has missed out on voting, and I am personally invested in ensuring the election process moves forward," he said.
Islam also revealed that the reform commission’s report is expected to be submitted by January.
Once the report is in, discussions will be held with political parties, and a clear electoral roadmap will be announced.
